You do not have to buy on site caravan insurance

Posted by Lachlan Bethel in Top Insurance Quotes

The site owners of your chosen caravan locations may try to give you the impression that you are obliged to buy their on site caravan insurance if you want to locate your caravan on their site.

In fact, nothing could be further from the truth. You are under absolutely no obligation to buy on site caravan insurance.

The site owner may have every right to ensure that you have appropriate insurance cover prior to allowing you access to their site and if so, this would be perfectly understandable – particularly from a third party liability viewpoint.

Accidents can and do happen and having the financial security of caravan insurance behind you may be indispensable.

Being able to choose your own policy though may be just as important.

Your caravan probably represents a substantial investment for you. B

Water damage dampens profits

Posted by Bianca Fredricksen in Life Insurance

Water damage is costing UK commercial property owners millions, according to recent research from Cadogan Keelan Westall.

The property insurance specialist can reveal that nearly 50% of claims made on commercial buildings and their contents result from escape of water, at an estimated cost to property owners £185 million a year.

In fact, commercial non-weather-related escape of water claims cost £0.5 million a day in 2010, industry figures show, with the average commercial water damage claim for 2011 coming in at just over £2,900.

Common causes include burst pipes, roof leaks, frozen pipes and blocked drains, with empty commercial properties understandably more vulnerable than occupied ones.

10 Safety Lessons Every Kid Should Learn

Posted by Emma OFarrell in Insurance Help

Go back to basics to help your kids protect themselves.

Boiling child safety down to 10 steadfast rules might seem impossible—and for parents, it is. But kids need to hear clear safety basics from Mom and Dad. These simple, easy-to-remember rules give you a way to start the conversation.

  1. Don’t talk to strangers. Kids can’t control who approaches them, but they should know not to engage in conversation (or activities) with someone they don’t know.

  2. Yell and tell. If a stranger does approach your child and attempt to touch or follow him or her, your child should yell (“That’s not my dad!” “Stranger!” “Help!”) and tell someone they trust what happened. Some experts advise ch

IRS Guidance on Reporting Group Health Insurance

Posted by Lachlan Bethel in Top Insurance Quotes

Today, the Internal Revenue Service issued interim guidance to employers on informational reporting on each employee’s annual Form W-2 of the cost of the health insurance coverage they sponsor for employees. The IRS is also requesting comments on this interim guidance. The IRS emphasized that this new reporting to employees is for their information only, to inform them of the cost of their health coverage, and does not cause excludable employer-provided health coverage to become taxable; employer-provided health coverage continues to be excludable from an employee’s income, and is not taxable.

Reporting is Voluntary for All Employers for 2011 and Small Employers for 2012

The Affordable Care Act provides that employers are required to report the cost of employer-provided health care coverage on the Form W-2.

Car insurance: Taxi driver reversed into me – and later said it was my fault

Posted by Emma OFarrell in Insurance Help

I was in my car, waiting for the taxi in front to pick up a passenger, when the taxi reversed into my vehicle. The driver admitted he had not seen me. I told my insurer, LV, which said it wasn’t necessary to get witnesses’ names, although there had been people on the street. I was told that the passenger in the taxi was unlikely to be regarded as an independent witness. LV paid for the repairs and I paid the excess.

A few weeks later LV said it would be settling the case on a 50/50 basis as the taxi driver had produced a witness — the passenger — who said the taxi had been stationary. I have lost my £200 excess, my no claims bonus and my premiums will go up.

Carpooling can save Americans time, fuel costs

Posted by Bianca Fredricksen in Life Insurance

As gas prices continue to rise and roads become more congested, more Americans are leaving their individual vehicles at home and choosing to carpool to work.

The toll traffic is taking on Americans

According to the Texas Transportation Institute, Americans spent an average of 34 hours stuck in traffic in 2009, burning through about $808 of fuel. Nationally, traffic congestion cost Americans a whopping $87 billion that year, a figure that could be significantly reduced if more people partner up with friends or coworkers during their daily commute.

An overabundance of cars on the roadways is wasting more than money—it’s also eating up chunks of time. F

Is Your Car Insurance Complete?

Posted by Bianca Fredricksen in Life Insurance

When was the last time you looked at your car insurance policy? Do you know if you have all the coverage you’d need if you got into an accident? Not all car insurance policies are created equal.

  • Does your car insurance policy include roadside assistance, in case you get locked out or get a flat?
  • Does your car insurance policy have towing on it (or do you have AAA)?
  • If you’re in an accident, do you have coverage for a rental car?
  • If you have glass break, does your policy offer a $0 deductible?
  • How about Personal Injury Protection (PIP)? If you’re in a not-at-fault accident (or you’re in someone else’s car), it will protect you from medical bills. We sugges
